How to get your Vegepod® started.

How to get your Vegepod® started.

Vegepod®  raised garden bed and growing kits can be places almost anywhere. They also offer protection for your veggies and will give you all the benefits with minimal maintenance. Here are some tips to get you started.

1. Vegepod Perlite Plus.

  • Start by covering the bottom of the pod with Vegepod Perlite Plus. Perlite is volcanic glass (very lightweight material) and is perfect for aerating soil. Vegepod Perlite is a coarse version.

2. Premium Potting Mix.

  • Mix Premium Potting Mix with perlite and fill up to the brim of the pod. Mixing the soil with perlite helps drainage.

  • Vegepod Perlite Plus also contains fine rock dust to mineralise the soil and improve the flavours of edibles.

3. Ready to plant.

  • Fill the pod up to the brim with the soil mix.

  • Plant your seedlings, plenty to choose from. We chose carrots, beetroots and celery (January).

  • Plant them about a hand width from each other.

4. Care for your veggies.

  • We chose carrots, beetroots and celery in our Vegepod. We planted these in the middle of January.

  • Make sure to water, and add Seasol once a fortnight.

5. Mushrooms growing in your veggie patch?

That is great! It shows that your soil has a healthy ecosystem. The fungi form a symbiotic relationsip with plants by providing them with nutrients to grow. So don't worry if you see fungi in your soil.

6. About 4 weeks in the Vegepod.

Everything is growing. Not ready for harvest just yet, We lifted the lid up a few hours each day due to the very hot weather we've had.
