How to take care of your lawn after heavy rain.
Excess rain and moisture can cause a lot of damage to your lawn. Here are some tips of what you can do.
Aerate your lawn
To help excess moisture drain away, give your lawn an aerate. Aerating is also for alleviating moisture and allowing oxygen down into the waterlogged roots of the lawn.
Easiest is to use a garden fork. To aerate your lawn, drive the fork into the lawn. Wriggle it back and forth to help fracture the soil profile. Repeat.
Replace lost nutrients
After extended periods of rainfall, soil tends to absorb as much water as it can. The water will travel further down into the subsoil and rock underneath. As the water travels down, it will take nutrients with it. Help the soil by applying a soil conditioner or liquid fertiliser.
We recommend:
Get on top of weeds
Higher levels of rainfall will also increase potential weed pressure on your lawn. Try to get on top of any weeds as soon as possible to prevent spreading. There are plenty of different products to help out. We recommend Amgrow Bin Die or Oxafert.
Give your lawn some colour
If your lawn lacks colour, you can use ColourGuard Plus. It can provide up to 3 months of colour and at the same time fertilise and care for your lawn.
