Mulches
Mulching should be an essential part of any landscaping project. The choice of which mulch to use is largely a personal choice dependant on colour preferences, except for our premium Rich Mulch which is a mulch & feed in one. However we advise you to be guided by our friendly team in choosing the best mulch for your landscaping project. Their expert knowledge will make your garden more manageable down the track.

Rich Mulch (Lee Rowan's Speciality Mix)
Rich Mulch is a quality unique blend of ingredients designed to mulch & feed your garden. It is our own mix of fine Pine Bark, Eucalytus Mulch, Composted Sawdust, Mushroom Compost & Cow Manure. These are combined to make a luscious dark black rich colour that will highlight plants & promote excellent growth. Like all good mulches it has excellent water retention capabilities & works well on steep banks & verges. At Lee Rowan's we advise you to apply Rich Mulch twice a year to optimise growth at a depth of 75mm.
Fine Pine Bark
We stock a 15mm Slash Pine from Queensland. This type of tree provides an excellent clean flat Bark, which is ideally suited to mulching gardens. We recommend a depth of 75mm which should last approximately 6 to 9 months in normal conditions. Fine Pine Bark will provide good moisture holding & excellent weed supression. Fine Pine Bark is a deep rich red colour & being from the outside of the tree it holds it's colour very well.
Coarse Pine Bark
As a larger alternative to the Fine Pine Bark we have sourced bark from a 50mm Radiata Pine tree from the Southern New South Wales Highlands. This type of tree provides a a thick traditional nugget style of bark. We recommend a depth of 75mm for optimum coverage, which should last 9 to 12 months. Coarse Pine Bark will also provide good moisture holding & excellent weed supression. Being a deep rich red colour & from the outside of the tree, it also holds its' colour very well. As it is larger and heavier than the Fine Pine Bark, if you are applying it to steep banks we advise chicken wire to pin it down.
Eucalyptus Mulch
"Euc Mulch", as it is commonly known is produced from the "fines" of the hardwood woodchip. It is made up of pieces of wood about the size of a match, which will matt down well to really supress weeds & hold the water in. We still recommend a depth of 75mm, however you can get away with 50mm if you are prepared to top it up more regularly. Euc Mulch starts as a fresh hardwood timber colour but has a tendency to darken as it gets older & compost down.
Forest Mulch (only available at Ourimbah & Raymond Terrace)
Forest Mulch is the most economical Mulch we sell. It is the tub grindings of the native trees that get cut by councils & developers. This is a coarse dark mulch that is ideally suited to large commercial jobs or Native gardens. This style of mulch tends to break down very quickly & have minimal nutrient value for the garden but it is still very good for weed control & moisture control.
Hardwood Woodchip (only available at Warners Bay & Raymond Terrace)
"Woodchip" is the traditional mulch gardeners have used for many years. It is a tried & true product that is normally laid 75mm thick and will last up to 12 months. Probably the big downside to Woodchip is the colour, it tends to fade from a warm timber colour, to an old grey pailing fence colour.
Red Dyed Woodchip
Red Dyed Woodchip is the same as the above product and is a tried & true product that is normally laid 75mm thick and will last up to 12 months. The big advantage of the Dyed Woodchip is the colour. Red Dyed Woodchip obviously has a good colour but amazingly the vegetable dyes seem to last very well.
