Turf is sold in rolls that are 1 mt squared. The rolls are approximately 2 ft wide by 5.5 ft long and weigh about 10kg. Allow 2 days from date of ordering for delivery within the local Newcastle area, more for the Upper Hunter? For smaller quantities order by Wednesday for pick up on Friday from Warners Bay?

A small box trailer will fit approximately 30 sq mt of Buffalo (more if Couch or Kikuyu)
A large box trailer will fit approximately 40 sq mt of Buffalo (more if Couch or Kikuyu)
How and when to water my lawn?
Newly laid turf must be kept moist at all times until the roots have taken. A soaker hose is the preferred method of watering. Test for soil moisture with a probe to 100mm / 4”. If the weather is hot and windy up to 10 hrs per day watering may be required. If the turf appears to lose colour in the first month after laying water has not been sufficient so watering should increase. Once the turf has taken root (7-10 days in summer, 10-14 days in winter) watering can be decreased. As a guide 2-3 deep waterings a week in summer, or once a week in winter is advised. After 12 months, once a week is usually sufficient, except in extreme conditions.
What is the best grass for around a pool?
Sir Walter is the best grass around a pool because it is salt tolerant, green in winter and soft to walk on.
Will Sir Walter grow in shady areas?
No grass will grow in complete shade however we have found Sir Walter to perform the best in shaded areas if mown longer than normal prior to winter.
When can I mow my newly laid lawn?
The first mowing should not be done until the roots have taken and the turf is not easily lifted. It should only be a short trim and never take more than a third of the leaf off in any single mowing.
What is grey leaf spot?
Strangely enough you can kill your grass with "kindness". Once established your Buffalo lawn will grow vigorously except if it is fertilised heavily, watered in the afternoon and mown with blunt blades during hot, humid weather. This can cause a fungus disease called grey leaf spot. For this reason we do not recommend that you fertilise your lawn heavily between December & March and preferably water in the morning. However if fungus does appear it can be treated so please call in to one of our 3 Garden Centres and enquire what product is best suited to eradicate this disease.
