What is aeration?
You aerate and decompact the lawn by making punction holes into the lawn’s soil.
Why aerate the lawn?
By decompacting your lawn’s soil you help air, water and nutrients to get to the roots. Aeration:
- Promotes thicker and stronger lawn growth
- Reduces soil compaction caused by wear and traffic
- Improves drainage
- Aids in repairing bare spots
- Allows nutrients to reach the lawn’s roots more effectively
When aerate the lawn?
You can aerate any time during the year, however doing it when the grass is actively growing ie spring and summer, makes it easier for the grass to grow back over the punctuations.
How to aerate the lawn?
The most common way is to use a garden fork. Just drive the fork into the lawn, move it back and forth and repeat through the hole lawn. If you soil is too hard, water the lawn a few hours before. This should soften up the soil.
